Formula 1 Grand Prix in Singapore

It is said to be the world's first ever night race in the history of Formula 1 and it's going to happen in Singapore. I saw their practice run earlier. Im glad I did, although it was just from a fence, coz all tickets were already sold out. Gosh, I was really shouting and jumping when I called my brother back home because of my excitement. I wish my brothers were here and witnessed those totally awesome racing cars. I couldnt believe I could see the real one. It's really different when you're watching it on tv, the feeling, the loud engines, the crowd's cheer...I just can't describe it. This is just a video that I managed to take inspite of a very large crowd. Hope I could get a better view tomorrow. :D

Wedding cake for all

Cake slicing has been a wedding tradition for many years. The couple would slice the cake first and after the wedding reception, the cake will be served to all the guests. With this in mind, I knew I have to find a cake that's huge in size for my 200 guests. At first I opted to have a small cake and include a styropor to make it look bigger, extravagant and stylish. Most cakes nowadays include styropor/Polystyrol designed to look like an edible cake and placed on top of the real one.

Serving all your guests with cake is like sharing your blessings. If you really want to share your blessings, you just don't share it to a selected few. Same with the cake, you just don't serve it to a few friends and relatives but to all your guests. That's what I learned from Ma. Therese Lim from Sweet Temptations, where I got my wedding cake. On top of that, if you will pay for designing a styropor to make it look like a real cake, why not pay for having a real one? It may be costly but I think paying for a dummy cake is much costly. Having a real one and being able to share it to all is just worth it.

I'm just glad I made the right choice. Got a 6 tiered cake that has a floral design. It has different flavors such as carrot cake, chocolate cake, butter-rum cake and more. I was so amazed on its design as it can support lots of decorations plus a small statue on top while remaining to be edible and elegant. I was glad all my guests could have their share and even take home big slices.

Captured Moments

An occasion that happens once in a lifetime is never forgotten. Thanks to Mr. Glenn Camay, my wedding photographer, who has captured every moment, every smile, every memory. For me and my husband, it was truly the "time of our lives" and the photos speak for itself.

When I got my pictures, I was so overjoyed. I could really say Glenn's got talent and creative and unique style. Glenn really gave me more than what he has offered me in his package. I was really touched. He has given me lots of freebies too. My husband and I are really thankful.

We have great confidence in him not only because he has won awards and is a very experienced photographer but also because we see his passion and his concern for our special day. Our first experience with him was fun. It was during our prenuptial @ Fort San Pedro. Me and my husband are not really into photo shoots but Glenn made us very comfortable. He does not only produce breath taking photos, he is also is a photographer brimming with lots of creative and unique ideas, very energetic, and lots of fun. All our great poses were all his idea. During the wedding and during the postnup, Glenn's energy is still as active as before and there's no limit on the pics he takes. Glenn has provided us eye catching and to die for wedding photographs and such a superb service. Thanks Glenn.

Take a moment to look at a few photos I've uploaded.

Have the best Make-up Artist & never worry on looking BEAUTIFUL!

I've been a bridesmaid and a maid of honor in so many weddings before and I never felt beautiful with my make-up. One time, my make-up was too bold and dark that I look older than my age. I don't even want to look at my pictures until now. This made me realize that I will be photographed more on my wedding day than any other day of my life. The video or the pictures taken will be viewed and treasured for many years by my family and my children's children. So for my wedding, I'll definitely book for the one who makes sure that I look my absolute best.

Luckily for me, I got Cebu's best make-up artist and style whom I have confidence with. He's really great. He's very approachable and most of all he's got real talent with make-up and style.
I am very comfortable with my make-up. My make-up artist really knows how to accent your best feature. He uses products that work with your skin and not cause skin break-outs and rashes. Test make-ups are never done in a hurry until you get you're desired look. All my bridesmaids, my maid of honor, my matron of honor, my mom, and the flower girls look so lovely during my wedding day. Most of all, people say the bride looks lovely and beautiful. Thanks to Jessie Glova, my make-up artist. Planning on your wedding? Get the best make-up artist and smile, be yourself and never worry on looking your beautiful self on your big day.

Random thoughts on fatherhood

Got this from Sun Star newspaper under Speak Out section by Henry L. YU, MD. It really touched my heart and wished that it would touch the hearts of all the fathers who will and may have read this.

Random thoughts on fatherhood

Human as they are, fathers have imperfections and shortcomings, so they too need to be reminded of things they have taken for granted or have forgotten.
Fathers are all-around persona in the lives of their children, not just a working father but also a teacher, adviser, disciplinarian, and most of all, best friend.
Fathers should realize that their children grow up and they ought to adjust to situations and to their children's generation.
Fathers should be more understanding and considerate to their children, as they had been kids themselves once upon a time.
Fathers should not underestimate their children just because they are just kids.
They should realize that the kids have their own ways of thinking, preferences, mood swings, likes and dislikes.
Fathers should weigh and evaluate things carefully before they reprimand their kids or blow their top.
Fathers should not compare their kids' ways to their old and relatively conservative upbringing.
Fathers should update themselves with their children's kind of life.
There should be a balance between these two different worlds lest chaos ensues.
Fathers should make it their responsibility to guide and mold their children to be good Christians.
Fathers, even if they are successful professionals or are the richest among their peers, are nothing if their children go astray.
Fathers should make his family his top priority. In the final analysis, family life comes first.
As Corinthians 13:13 would put it: "These three remain: Faith, Hope, Love, And the greatest of these is Love." A father's love is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. It is love for all seasons; one that is in fact, more than forever.

The Wedding Planner of my very own Wedding- MYSELF

Wedding preparations is really not an easy task. I'm just so blessed to have my mom to help me out most of the time.

I've created a checklist to help me out in all planning, budgeting and scheduling of tasks. I have my own budget checklist so I would not go way out of what has been allotted in every part or detail of the wedding. Then I made myself a wedding calendar so everything will be scheduled and not one minor thing will be missed out.

So what's the first step in preparing for the wedding? It's the date of the wedding. The wedding date is very important since there are a lot of things you have to consider like availability of the place where the wedding ceremony and the wedding reception will be held as well as the availability of the bride, groom and respective families. In my case, we set the date to be on the 2nd, 9th or 16th of August. Unfortunately, most of the hotel function rooms are already fully booked for the whole month of August. Geeez! I thought May was the wedding month. So, we decided to move it to July so our families who will be coming home from abroad can also join. After setting the date and the Church/Reception reservations are done, the next steps will just be easy. If you have your own checklist and calendar, everything will just be a breeze.

This may be of help. My very own checklist.

Planning
  • decide on the type of wedding
  • decide on the time of wedding and reception
  • decide on the theme and motif
  • decide on the maximum number of invited guests
  • select attendants; bridesmaids, groomsmen, flower girls, ring bearer, principal sponsors, secondary sponsor, ushers, etc.
  • decide on wedding budget to work from
  • decide on honeymoon budget
Research & canvass
  • research for gown designs for the bride, bridesmaids, mother of the bride, flower girls
  • look for barong/tux
  • canvass for wedding suppliers; florist, photographer, videographer, musicians/band, cake, make-up artists, wedding invitations & wedding favors
  • canvass for a wedding ring.
  • research for honeymoon packages or consult a travel agent if you'll be having an out of the country honeymoon.
Putting the plan into action
  • Book the ceremony and reception locations
  • Choose suppliers after canvassing and book them.
  • Discuss with the suppliers the details of their services and also what you like to happen on your wedding such as floral arrangements, schedule & location for pre-nuptial/post-nuptial video and photo, seating arrangements in the reception, list of music to be played by the band/musicians, etc.
  • Get measurements from attendants for their gowns.
  • Shop for cloth for the gowns.
  • Give to couturier the design, measurements and cloth.
  • Shop for wedding accessories, veil, shoes etc.
  • Reserve room for wedding night
  • Finish guest list.
  • Get marriage license.
Well, this is just a not so detailed checklist of mine. It will become more detailed when you plot appointments and what to do list in your wedding preparation calendar/wedding organizer. So a wedding checklist should be coupled by a wedding organizer. It really helps to be organized.

My Wedding Coordinator - A real life saver

My Wedding Coordinator

I’ve been ditched by my gay wedding coordinator. I really trusted him since he was my sister’s wedding coordinator last year 2004 and he was good. Though he’s got a very expensive fee, 8k for a three day wedding coordination service and hosting on the reception, I decided to book his services in as early as 4 months before my wedding. I already gave him my down payment which is 4k Php. Days, weeks, months passed by, yet he’s nowhere to be found. All the contact numbers he has given me can’t be reached and he does not respond to my emails. I’ve been getting bad comments from different wedding suppliers who knew him. They said he stood up a lot of his clients even on their wedding day.

Luckily, I’ve been referred to a very wonderful coordinator. She’s got years of experience and wedding coordination is her full-time job. You can really trust her. She’s widely known by many wedding suppliers from videographers to make-up artists. When you ask them, they know her and they always have beautiful and good comments about her. She does not require a down payment too and she’s got a very affordable fee for a very superb service.

Sonic Flood LIVE Concert in CEBU

Heard of the song, “I could sing of your love”, “Open the eyes of my heart”, "Heart of worship",and “I want to know you”?

These are just a few of my favorite praise and worship songs by Sonic Flood. Sonic Flood is a Christian contemporary band whose songs have become popular to a lot of young people because of its alternative/rock style combined in praise and worship songs.

I've heard over the radio that Sonic Flood is coming to Cebu for a Praise and Worship concert. It will be held in the Grand Ballroom, Waterfront Hotel Cebu on June 14, 2008 at 8 pm. Tickets are available in waterfront ticketing office and in Ayala/SM customer care. It’s really great. I’m looking forward to what God will accomplish in the lives of a lot of Cebuanos and a lot of young people thru this event. I’m so excited. It will definitely be a worship experience I’ll never forget.

Weddings @ Marco Polo

Hmm. I've noticed that I'm blogging mostly about weddings. Sorry guys, just can't help it coz it's what I've been up to these days. My mind is so full about weddings, cakes, gowns and stuff. Excited? Isn't it obvious?. lol! Well, I just had my first ever bridal fare experience that's worth sharing.

It's called weddings @ Marco Polo. If you wanted to have fabulous ideas for your wedding, the best place to be is at a bridal fare. If you don't have any suppliers yet, you'll find it in one event. Many wedding suppliers; gown designers, photographers & videographers, florist and even wedding coordinators gather in one event showcasing their services, products & packages. Among them are the cakes from Marissa Unchuan, Hayden cakes, bridal gowns from cystalized, packages from Heavenly Weddings, Teresings and a lot more. Really a time-saver & stress free event plus you get to relax and have fun. One thing convenient about it is that you get to see and compare different packages, different products all in one place, all in one day. I got so much idea on the price ranges and also ideas on the trend nowadays from fashionable gowns to cake designs. Such a great help for me. I heard that weddings at marco polo is done yearly. Not sure about that, but I was surely glad to have witnessed it this year. Enjoy some great photos I got from the event.

Mother's Day Special

May 11, 2008 - A very memorable day for my family as we celebrated Mother's day. Well, my brothers and I haven't really prepared a grand surprise for my mom like we do before. We usually surprise mom with beautiful flowers or with a cake or a material gift, but this time is different. The day before mother's day, my family went to the mall and mom was looking for nice cards to give to our grandmother and to her mother friends. I was planning to buy one but since mom was around, I browsed for a birthday card instead. When we had dinner, I pretended that I have to get something so I left them and hurriedly bought a card for mom. My brothers and I wrote our own personal message in the card, placed the card in our kitchen table to surprise mom the next day. Then finally the awaited day has come. When mom read the card she was teary eyed. We knew that she was very happy and was touched by our message of thanks and love. For a mother's day treat, we went to Parklane and had buffet dinner at Manuel's. The place has a very relaxing and romantic ambiance. We enjoyed a sumptuous meal and a feel good music by serenaders bringing with them stringed instruments like violin, cello and guitar. The serenaders gathered at our table and played, "When I fall in Love". Dad joked about crying while in fact tears were ready to fall from his eyes. I was teary eyed that time too. It was just a day full of emotions. There were not much words spoken but love and joy is felt and expressed from the heart.

Wedding Favors

The perfect way to thank your guests for coming to your big day is by giving them gifts, wedding favors. What seems to be just a little thing is actually the one that takes much of your time and effort after all. I realize that what you give to your guests is a reflection of who you are. Your wedding favor can leave a lasting impression to your wedding, to you and your partner. I hate to think that some wedding favors could get thrown away or left behind or could be placed in an old cabinet no one ever bothered to look at, after spending so much time, effort and money on it. So what's pressuring me these days? Fabulous favor ideas! I want it to be beautiful but not expensive. I want it to be something useful. Something edible would also be nice, something that your guests would find it hard to trash. All in all, I want it to be something worthwhile. I’ve spent so much time looking for the right wedding favor suited for my motif and for my theme and of course not compromising the budget. I’ve been to a bridal fair in Marco Polo, and I’ve run my eyes over a lot of beautiful favors displayed. Beautiful right?

Glad I took pictures. Most of them are just ceramic decors and cost around 70 pesos and up. And I thought it's impractical. I went to department stores in Colon, Ayala, and SM and also in different bridal boutiques, but I haven’t found the one that doesn’t hurt my pocket. I've eyed glass decors also, but a small one already cost 90 pesos and up. Where can we find fabulous favors that cost 20-40 pesos these days? Well, my mom did one heck of a job. She went to a Taiwanese store in Colon. We didn’t know they actually have lots of good stuff there and are very affordable too. You can also get discounts when you buy in bulk. Some are similar to the ones I saw in some bridal boutiques and bridal fair I’ve been to. Hmmm. Maybe they’re getting their supplies there. Various favors available cost around 20-40 pesos. The material and designs are also classy. You just have to make sure when you get there, they have new stuff displayed. My mom and I went there on a Sunday and they were just unpacking new arrivals. Such a good timing!

I'm Getting Married

Yup! I am the happiest person in the planet. :D I'm very much excited to marry the man whom I'll be giving all my love for the rest of my life and whom I'll grow old with.

It's so amazing that in spite of all that we've been through, we still held on to each other. Our love has been tested, like gold tested through fire. Our families and our close relatives & friends can attest to that. Just as pure gold endured process of heating, true love endures heartaches & pain. Indeed, we've been through a lot but we have surpassed every test, every trial of our relationship. Truly, love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails. We believe everything happens with a purpose. Those 9 years is really a blessing for both of us. We've learned to accept each others weaknesses, we've grown stronger and more mature, and we strive to be a better person for each other each new day.

Finally, we will soon be one in love and in Christ. I’m looking forward with a big smile and a heart full of passion and joy to the beginning of a new life together.

Diet Conscious

I’ve been conscious with my diet lately because of an upcoming occasion. I wanted to lose a few pounds and at the same time stay healthy. I don’t want to skip meals because when I do, I get headaches. With my busy work schedule, I’m already stressed out to exercise. So, how do I shed off those fats?

I’m thinking L-carnitine.

Nowadays, L-carnitine has become a main ingredient in diet products. Consumers seem to dig on products with L-carnitine. There’s Fitrum. There’s also Fit ‘n Right juice drink from Del Monte.
L-carnitine is said to metabolize food into energy. It helps in burning fat thus increases energy. It is said to be great in diets as it reduces feelings of hunger and weakness. So is this really effective? Maybe it's worth the try. I'm so curious. I might try it once and see if it works. It would be great to lose a little weight and still enjoy healthy meal.

Blog the boredom away

I have nothing much to do today. So I decided to blog. It is so funny that I finally come up with one.

I'm really not into writing. I even hesitated, when I was asked to write an article for our church’s newsletter. I took the layout and design task just to avoid working my brains out on long paragraphs and stuff. I don't even keep diaries when I was young. I remember when I was in grade school, I tried having a diary but it did not last for a week because I got bored and eventually lost interest. Now, seems like a change of mood. I'm bored and I've got nothing to do at work and surprisingly, I decided blogging.

Well here it is! My first blog ever. I'll be sharing my thoughts from now on. I'll be blogging bits about music, bands, places I've been to, events, fashion, my own recipes and a lot of interesting things. I just realize blogging can be a good pastime. I would be glad to have you read around. I would also appreciate your comments and suggestions.
Till next time.
